To reduce the total amount of kilometers to be driven and the amount of vehicles rented by the organization, Team:Logistics provides off-site transport to and from the event for other orga teams. We have vehicles with a lifting platform, so pallets can be transported.
Postmortem by User:LeonH
In case this wiki survives until the next event in 4 years, here are some thoughts on what went well and what could be better next time around.
Demand was a bit less (or more spaced out?) than at OHM, which made our job easier and less chaotic. In total, there were 15 trips inbound before the event and 8 outbound after the event. - Maybe contact mailing list to see if anybody is interested
- Figure out how we'll do delivery at the event. Do we have to make sure things don't go missing and are checked out by the right person? Label them with a barcode? For some things: Deliver directly to a specific location on-site?
- Build a quick and dirty fleet tracking system with old Android phones to reduce required phone calls?
- Figure out what equipment we need to secure loads and make sure we have it. Show drivers how to use it.
