Radio studio
We got 2 Behringer DDX3216 mixers for a total of 24x phantom powered XLR inputs and 8x 6.3mm jack inputs.
These two mixers are dedicated for voice processing, this basically means all microphones and any voicecomms to voip/skype/mumble/youname it.
A seperate mixing desk (type tbd) will be used for any other audio devices like the fixed music pc,laptops,dj setups etc.
A third mixing desk (type tbd) will be used for main outputs to the transmitter and streams.
Although we have multi mixing desks (4) we try to maintain a KISS strategy.
All functions of the studio should be pretty self explainable with some slight help from the regular techs.
We want as many people to participate in this experience and gain knowledge.
Workshops will be held.

Daytime show requirements
Historically daytime shows have been anything from 1-10 guests. So we should be able to cover that.
12 microphones (1 tech + 11 guest mics) , can be processed by one ddx3216 mixer
Microphones will be dynamic cardiod types because of durability.
PopFilters may be placed over them to avoid human mouth output devices from soaking the membrame.
http://www.bax-shop.nl/microfoon-windkappen/stagg-ws-s20-microfoon-windkap
Each mic will be placed on a flexible boomarm or some fixture
For headphones we are looking into a better and more flexible way than previous events.
We should still have enough headphones laying around, but they need to be checked for defects.
Each headphones should be individually adjustable.
The small headphone amps we used for this have a small lifespan and high failure rate. Replacement and upgrade might be required.
Old ones : http://www.bax-shop.nl/hoofdtelefoon-versterker/behringer-microamp-ha-400-hoofdtelefoon-versterker
Disadvantages were bad power connector, not the best potentiometers in the world as in sometimes a single side would fail etc.
Used stereo jack input and not easily daisy chained without some nasty trickery.
Still very unsure about how to do this properly. Passive solutions have to deal with impedance variations, so probably an active solution.
Although the same size and idea, these units do offer a better solution using RCA and TRS linking.

I can't find a whole lot about this company and its quality, seems to be sold in various places that sell "homesumer" audio...
These ones are higher quality, but almost double the price. I could easily get a spare or 2 in case the cheap HA400 would fail.
http://www.bax-shop.nl/hoofdtelefoon-versterker/art-headamp-4-hoofdtelefoon-versterker
Same story goes for the devices people bring to the studio, usually laptops , phones etc.
A better system for plugging them into the studio gear and providing better (ground loop) filtering would save a lot of trouble.
All line devices will be ground loop filtered. I got a couple of Behringer HD400 2-channel hum destroyers that work fine for this. Might need some extra.
A playout system will be provided with the possibility to play station calls, jingles, fillers and music.
Still looking for a KISS solution to this.

Nighttime show requirements
Nighttime shows have historically been visited by quite a lot of people, although they tend to peter out after 03:00. So the daytime studio should suffice.
DJ show requirements
A DJ show has been done every now and then, usually because some people brought their equipment and record collections.
If there is a need stuff can be rent.
Usually this goes hand in hand with the nighttime shows so we will dedicate a table for this
Most systems can be hooked up using RCA connection or if the studio equipment allows also jack/xlr.
We are still unclear of providing any monitors for this purpose. This has to do with audio feedback from the monitors to the mics , making it a pain for levelling.
