About

Team::Villages arranges the communication between the villages and the main organisation. If you need anything (special) regarding space, network, power, etc. We are the people to approach.

ToDo

  • Explicit "Call for Villages"? We already have a call for participation.
  • Fill out Team:Volunteers/Angeltypes before march 31 2017
  • Talk to Team:Logistics/Waste about waste-guidelines/requirements for villages
  • Set up a registration-form
    • Migration path for villages already in the wiki
    • Include questions related to number/age of kids for Team:Family_Village
  • Learn which kind of villages will be accepted (corporate-only villages?)
  • Coordinate with Team:Maps about village-placement-documentation
  • Coordinate with Team:Power to have a overview of the available power on each field
  • Figure out who will coordinate Rent-A-Tent
    • For villages from outside europe Rent-A-Tent is a must-have!
  • Coordinate with Team:Buildup_Mgmt about on-site transportation for bulky/heavy village equipment
  • Figure out where Caravans can be placed. This might be important for the family-village as well.
  • Get numbers for 'nr. of villages', 'nr. of people on the field by day' from previous events (ohm, cccamp, emf)

Missing fields for the registration form

  • power/network
  • family-village questions (number of kids, ...)
  • Meta-villages: consistent; who will enter them how?
  • Remark about build up and tear down (restricted number of people on field, registration separately necessary for day -3-0 and 5+?! when does everything has to be off?)
  • Planned arrival date?
    • How many people? On which day?
    • How many trucks / cars? On which day?
  • Do you bring any really big stuff? (Higher than x meters, larger than x meters)

Open questions

  • Caravans allowed on the field?
    • Timeframe?
    • Maximum number?
    • Registration form?
  • Time range for build up and tear down:
    • When are trucks and car allowed to enter for build up?
    • When are trucks and car allowed to enter for tear down?

FAQ

What is a village?

A village is a group of people who want to camp together and organise themselves more or less. Sometimes a village also wants to organise or display sub-events or hackspaces/townhalls for their village. Some villages might setup a small datacenter, hack-tent, fancy lights, a place to have workshops/talks, etc.

What is a village not?

A cheap way for your company to do adverting or recruiting on the event. If you want to support a village in goods or financially that's ok, but try to limit your commercial or governmental presence on the event.

How do I get/make one?

Organise yourselves, find out with how many people you want to have your village, what you want to do in your village. How much space you -need-. etc. Then make a village page on the wiki. If you have any questions on what is possible or want to do something big/special. Contact us.

I want to do something special! Now what?

Cool! We love to hear what you have in mind and what you need for it. Most of the stuff you will probably need to organise yourself, but we can help out in regards to placement, power, network, space, etc.

Can we rent tents via you?

Most likely. We are getting quotes for that.

We want to bring some heavy/bulky stuff for our village. Can we deliver right to the village location?"

Yes/Depends. Driving is only allowed on paved roads. And access to the campsite will only be availabe bevore and after the event. Details on that will follow once we have deceided how to handle that.

How is waste-disposal arranged?

  • Regular event waste (trashbags) can be disposed of in one of the many bins around the fields.
  • For larger items (not household trash): Please take home everything you bring to SHA2017. Bear in mind that everything you leave behind will cost us valuable volunteer-time and money we could be spending on more fun stuff!
