About

To reduce the total amount of kilometers to be driven and the amount of vehicles rented by the organization, Team Logistics provides off-site transport to and from the event for other orga teams. We have vehicles with a lifting platform, so pallets can be transported.

Requesting transport

  • If your payload is small enough to be transported in a private car that is driving anyway and has space, prefer this option.
  • Driving around in a truck is expensive. If you need something transported from far away (e.g. outside the Netherlands), a private courier is more economical.
  • Every pickup location costs additional time and our volunteers' time is precious. Try batching your payload with other teams if possible (e.g. at a Hackerspace). If your item is not too big and <30kg, consider just mailing it at a nearby post office.
  • We operate efficiently by batching requests. Please be as flexible as possible with regards to pickup and drop-off dates and times.
  • To make pickup and return efficient, please have a person waiting for our drivers. We will call them some time before to make sure they didn't forget about us. Alternatively, have detailed pickup instructions and give us keys before the event.

Do not edit the table below table directly. Submit your request by email to User:LeonH (leonh@ndreke.de) and we will add it to the list below. Submit your requests by July 12 at the latest so we have enough time to plan our tours. No guarantees for ad-hoc requests!

Requests

Requestee Team What Size N Pallets Pickup Date Return Date Pickup Location Return Location Instructions
Stitch (06 1342 5622) Sanity / T-shirt shop on site 2 pallets/collo with shirts, on wheels 2 collo 2 collo Before the event - Nieuwegein, NL - Can be done whenever. You will get a key on request. It's already on wheels and needs to go the the t-shirt shop on site. Return wheels to Stitch during the event.

Do you have multiple requests with different pickup/return dates? List them as a seperate request!

ToDo

  • Contact teams about their transporting-needs
  • Recruit good driver teams
    • Talk to Engelsystem people to create an Angel category. Not sure whether we will use it for shift distribution yet, but for finding interested people it might be good
    • Add vacancy to the "Volunteering" wiki page, maybe somebody will find it?
    • Maybe contact mailing list to see if anybody is interested
  • Figure out how we'll do delivery at the event. Do we have to make sure things don't go missing and are checked out by the right person? Label them with a barcode? For some things: Deliver directly to a specific location on-site?
  • Build a quick and dirty fleet tracking system with old Android phones to reduce required phone calls?

Braindump by knorrie

  - Off-site pick-up and delivery (FIND SUBTEAMLEAD; training: Manduca, isACK?)
      - Vans
      - Picking things up
      - Returning them
      - Fleet supervision
      - Idea: put container at strategic locations (at hackerspaces) a few weeks before the event, everyone brings stuff and puts it in there, transport containers to field. (instead of doing all pickups and deliveries from/to everywhere.)
