* There’s good privacy for visitors. There’s free speech.

* In the age of social media, everyone is a reporter but we try to focus on the ‘larger’, ‘professional’ media.
 
* Explicit conscent for the use of any face.
 
* For goodwill and to maximise coverage, we can allow some press free, or cheaper tickets.
 
* Out of thousands of visitors, some will say weird things we don’t want to be associated with.
 
* We can make deals with some media outlets we trust, if we want a certain story to come across. These media partners can, for instance, get an ‘exclusive’ interview, demonstration or scoop.

* Press is asked to announce themselves in advance. Team:Info keeps a list of accredited press, copied to tickets&entrance.
 
* At entrance, all press is asked to identify themselves. In general, we’ll give them press wristbands and a leaflet (/’press package’). People with large cameras are obvious candidates.
 
* Chaperoning: all (serious) press will be invited over to the press area, and given a tour around the camp
 
* Free or cheaper entry: Team:Info can decide if a member of the press is eligable. We’re more inlined to give free entry for just one day.

Press can ask Mothership for a quiet working area. The experience is this will hardly be used.Where? (The mothership at the harbour could host, but our experience is it will be hardly used). We can offer a few desks, internet access, quiet, and secure storage. Also a quiet place for radio recording?

A spot without too much noise or wind, with a look-out on the terrain/visitors/logo as background. Used for interviews or tv recordings. Also rain-proof alternatives.

* Wear your press wristband so visitors know you’re with the press.
 
* Do not record the faces of visitors without their explicit permission. We have visitors that have good reasons for anonymity. With people in the backdrop, you could blur faces or position yourself so people are only filmed neck-down. Or, position yourself so that people have to willingly pass your camera.
 
* ‘Villages’ (the sub-camps on the field) and workshops may deny you (or anyone else) entry.
 
* We have a diverse group and value free speech. Statements by visitors, volunteers and speakers are their own, and often are not the consensus voice.

A few thousand visitors from around the globe gather 4 years in The Netherlands to share in an interest: what can we do with technology and what does it do to us? This August SHA2017 is held on Scoutinglandgoed (Scouting estate) Zeewolde in hundreds of tents with a complete technical infrastructure, <div style="margin-left:0cm;margin-right:0cm;"><span style="background-color:transparent;">Fact check: DWizzy sent out mail to NOC</span></div>kilometers [fact check mail sent to NOC] of network cable, an own phone network and live videostreams.

===  What hacking is about ===
 
 
 
“Hacking” to us can be about your own coffee maker or the security system banks use. We’re ethical and with a clear involvemnet in society. We expose vulnerabilities out of curiousity, before the bad guys do – or we hack the Malware made by criminals, to fight back and reclaim computers. We are concerned about misuse of technology and the growing use of personal information by big corporations and by governments. Even so, many of use have day jobs within big IT-companies and governments. Some of us call themselves “makers”, to focus on creating gadgets, art and tools with 3D-printers, progammable parts and creative workmanship.

We have a strong ‘do it yourself’ mentality. Organisation is done by volunteers and we try to be independent as an organisation. Besides central talks and workshops, visitors organise themselves in villages with their own workshops. A 100 people took almost two years or preparation, while many visitors contribute by taking a couple of volunteer shifts themselves.

Our events started when Internet was new and visitors did not even have access to it. People who grew out to be large .com-entrepreneurs alongside whistleblowers attended our events. Controversial speakers like Wikileaks’ Julian Assange, founder of PGP-encryption Phil Zimmermann, <div style="margin-left:0cm;margin-right:0cm;"><span style="background-color:transparent;">More examples please!</span></div>[more examples please..!]. For instance four years ago during predecessor OHM2013, children where playing with Lego bricks in the Family Village while an employee explained how the Lego company talked
 
 
 
===  Hints for journalists ===
 
 
 
* Respect visitors privacy: don’t make recognisablerecogniseable photo/video of our visitors, even when in the background. Some visitors have good reasons, such as personal safety. All speakers can be shown unless otherwise stated at the start of the talk.
 
* Villages can deny you entry. Workshops can deny you entry.
 
* We have thousands of visitors, many are outspoken, often with conflicting ideas. Besides our ground rules, the organisation as a whole doesn’t take a point and doesn’t necessarily agree with views of visitors or even speakers.
